Professional Experience
Brian Davis began appraising real estate in 1984 for what was then downstate's largest savings and loan. Since that time Brian has been a full time residential appraiser in Central Illinois. In 1994 he formed Brian J. Davis & Associates, a residential appraisal company specializing in the Bloomington-Normal and McLean County area.

Over the years Brian has seen major changes in the real estate market and has "experienced" those factors that can effect the value of residential real estate. His experience and judgement are recognized by many leading lenders and realty companies in the McLean Co. area. Brian is frequently asked to speak to groups of Realtors, home builders, and lenders on appraisal topics.  Brian was a residential designated member of the Appraisal Institute (1988-2004) and a past President of the Central Illinois Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

Brian is also a leader in appraisal technology. He has been called on to serve as a beta tester for two major appraisal software vendors, including the Advisory Panel for a la mode inc.'s WinTOTAL and Pocket TOTAL software as well as Apex sketching software. Brian also created the WinTOTAL Users Group in 1999 to form an online community of real estate appraisers sharing information.

Education

Brian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1970 and has completed additional study at the Masters level.

In 1988, after extensive real estate appraisal training, experience, and peer review, he became a designated residential member of the Appraisal Institute. Fewer than 10% of all licensed and certified appraisers have earned membership in the Appraisal Institute.  The residential designation required the submission of a narrative "Demonstration Report" and a passing grade on a series of examinations testing the appraiser's knowledge.  Brian resigned his membership with the AI in 2004.

Voluntary state licensing and certification of appraisers in Illinois were mandated in 1993. Brian met Illinois' highest requirements for residential certification that year and is currently certified through 9/30/2009.
